Description
The Radziwillow map of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a recognized masterpiece of world cartographic art, is the result of the joint work of state elites, a sign of intellectual maturity and economic prosperity of the region. The map defined the cartographic image of the region for the next century and a half. The name of the initiator of the map – Prince Nicholas Kryštof Radziwill Sirotka – is immortalized in the main cartouche, by whose “cost and effort” it was created.
The map dates back to 1613 and was engraved in a large cartographic publishing house in Amsterdam as a wall map; from 1631 it was included in atlases.
The map is sent wrapped in a tube in a separate parcel.
