Usually it seems like heroes just decide to have adventures – it’s their way, as you put it. But in fact they are more like us: they could have strayed a hundred times, but they didn’t. And if they had deviated, we would know nothing about them now: the sayings of such people are forgotten by the sages. And only those who reached the end are remembered – and, mind you, that end was not always a good one, at least not in the sense understood by the heroes themselves, not by the listeners…
