Description
The protagonists of Alhierd Bacharevič’s novel are Belarusian-speaking children, patients of a mysterious institution called Lahier (The Camp). There, they try to “cure” them of their Belarusian accent and deprive them of their Belarusian identity.
The protagonists escape from the Lahier into the forest, like a modern Hansel and Gretel. Adventures that are definitely not childish await them there.
Fairy tale, satire, anti-utopia — the book can be assigned to any of these genres, yet it will still remain a book about us, those who live here and now.
