Description
“Daddy Moniuszko, or a Rhymed Biography of the Father of Polish and Belarusian Opera” is a book that introduces young readers to the life and work of the famous composer Stanisław Moniuszko in an engaging way. The publication was released as part of the popular małe PWM series by the Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne publishing house, which opens the world of great composers such as Chopin, Moniuszko, Szymanowski, and others to children.
The story is written on behalf of Stanisław Moniuszko’s daughters. It portrays the classic not as a stiff figure from textbooks, but as an ordinary person and a beloved dad raising ten children. Through cheerful rhymed stories, the reader will discover how the composer created music amidst the household bustle, what his passions were, and what his daily life was like.
Stanisław Moniuszko is a figure who unites Polish and Belarusian cultures. He was born near Minsk (Ubiel estate), studied at the Minsk gymnasium, and created the first Belarusian opera “Idyll” (“Sielanka”).
This edition allows children to get to know the biography of their famous compatriot in their native language through images that are relatable and easy to understand.
