Description
In the hot summer of 2018, writer and translator Alena once again heads to Sweden. This time to swim in Stockholm’s bathing beaches and work with the family archive. She is about to take up residence in her old friend Margareta’s empty apartment in the Vasastan district, whose rooftops are actually ruled not by Karlsson, but by renovation workers.
In secret from everyone, Alena is waiting to meet Tunti, a former Sudanese groupmate from the Swedish language course, who broke off their friendship for a long time without any explanations. Now Alena will receive them. However, against the backdrop of apocalyptic weather, her plans also lie in ruins, everything goes wrong as she intended.
Alena and Tunti almost become witnesses to a rare astronomical phenomenon, but for them it ultimately does not occur. So was it a sign in the sky, or was it not? And is it even worth counting on any celestial signs as advisors in their lives? Alena ponders all this further after her return to Belarus.
The story can be read as a continuation of Anka Upaly’s previous novel “Na zasniežany vostraŭ” or as a separate book.
