Description
Astronaut Mark Watney, believed dead after a fierce storm, is left alone on a Martian station. Although the conditions there are quite comfortable, there is one major problem: Mark faces starvation. But luckily, besides the limited supplies of space food, he also has twelve potato bulbs and a bit of Earth soil. His goal is to survive four years until the next mission arrives.
The Martian Robinson Crusoe has to use extraordinary ingenuity and apply all his knowledge to survive and return to Earth. And we probably won’t spoil the fun for our readers too much if we say right away that, despite the problems and difficulties, everything will end well for Mark.
“The Martian” is the first published novel by American writer Andy Weir. This story feels like it was lifted straight from the works of science fiction’s “golden age.”
