Description
In this book, you will likely recognize yourself, even if you haven’t told me your story. It is woven from diary entries made during my nine days of imprisonment in 2020, and from interviews with those who, along with me, went through police violence and bars. The voices of our loved ones also resonate here — those who supported us from the other side of the prison walls.
The first reaction may be a desire to push these memories away, not to rub salt into painful wounds. But in this book, not everything is dark. On the contrary, it is full of solidarity, warmth, and even humor. This text is a reminder of our best selves: brave and united by high ideals. That’s who we were — and that’s who we remain.
