Serhiy Zhadan (born 1974) is a Ukrainian writer and public figure. Frontman of the famous rock band “Zhadan and Dogs.” He is the author of the novels “Depesh Mod”, “Anarchy in the UKR”, “Voroshilovgrad”, “Internat”, poetry collections “Citatnik”, “Ethiopia”, “Life of Mary”, “Templars”, “Antenna”, “List of Ships”, “Psalm of Aviation”, “Skrypnikovka” and others.
Critics call Serhiy Zhadan one of the best writers of the post-Soviet space countries, noting his ability to be close to both the simple and highly intellectual reader. Serhiy Zhadan’s literary works have been honored with numerous national and international awards, translated into more than twenty languages, making the author one of the best-known contemporary Ukrainian writers in the world.
For his book “Mesopotamia” (2014), Serhiy Zhadan received the prestigious “Angelus” and “Book of the Year” literary awards in Ukraine in 2015.
