Description
The collection of fairy tales you hold in your hands are legends and beliefs passed down from generation to generation in my family. The stories I heard as a child from my grandparents in the village inspired me to write this book.
The Belarusian village is a true relic of the ancient perceptions and habits of our ancestors. It may seem strange today, but even at the very end of the 20th century there were (and still are!) many superstitions and beliefs among the villagers of Lidchina, the roots of which go back to pre-Christian times. For example, my grandmother Jozefa was convinced that her neighbor on the farm was witchcraft and stole milk from the cows. And my grandmother Galya convinced her that a toad that had gotten into the house was a manifestation of evil forces, and to ward off trouble, it should be burned in the oven.
I have not forgotten all these stories and retold them to my readers.
