Description
Ryna, a middle-aged alcoholic, reluctantly travels to her grandmother’s funeral in the godforsaken Belarusian wilderness. While her old lady was dying, Ryna cared for strangers in happy retirement homes in the West. All she wants now is peace and quiet. But a surprise awaits her at home – old sins and legacies have long shadows. Can you fix everything when you don’t resemble the heroine one bit? Ryna must bury her grandmother, dig up her lover and renew her springs, never regaining full consciousness. The genre of this book is a swamp tale.
“Dog death doesn’t count here… And human death? And human life? Questions, questions, questions. To them the author of the book tries to answer. But Belarus in general is still an unanswered question, an inscrutable riddle. Let’s try together to guess our fate, our country” (Kasia Kamockaja).
