Description
This publication is dedicated to the memory of prominent figures of Belarusian culture whose lives were cut short during the Stalinist repressions. The book’s cover honors the names of creators who became symbols of that era: Uładzisłaŭ Hałubok, Jurka Lavonny, Anatol Volny, Ziama Pivavaraŭ, Majsiej Kulbak, Siarhiej Astrejka, Valery Marakoŭ, Michaś Čarot, Juli Taŭbin, Izi Charyk, Todar Klaštorny, Aleś Dudar, Siarhiej Murzo, Siarhiej Famin, Ciška Hartny, Vasil Šašalevič, Michaś Zarecki, and Vacłaŭ Łastoŭski.
The book is part of a large-scale educational project by the “Tuzin Hitoŭ” portal, aimed at returning these names and works to the modern cultural context and discourse. The edition includes 18 life stories of Belarusian writers, over a hundred selected works, and about a hundred archival photographs, some of which are published for the first time. Renowned literary researchers worked on the texts, preparing open lectures about the project’s heroes.
