Description
“How i was a youngster” is an autofiction that has become an event in contemporary Lithuanian literature. It is a brave and unabashed account of a girl’s adolescence searching for herself in a post-Soviet country of distorted mirrors. Soviet childhood, youth in Vilnius in the last decade of the 20th century, life abroad, doctoral studies, lovers, sex, travel, parties, failed attempts at writing…. Is it possible that none of the existing “female” roles, none of the identities fit – they slip off like bad tights?
