    Description

    The book by Alieh Łatyšonak, “Soldiers of the BNR,” brings together the author’s long-term work in the field of Belarusian military history. It is based on a translation of his doctoral dissertation on Belarusian military formations between 1917 and 1923. This work was first published in Polish back in 1995.

    The next section opens with an extensive popular science essay on General S. Bułak-Bałachovič. The essay is complemented by scholarly articles dedicated to various aspects of the general’s life and career. These two sections are supplemented by numerous articles focusing on individual Belarusian formations in various armies and prominent Belarusian military figures of that period, as well as the political aspects of the struggle for the BNR.

    A separate section consists of articles dedicated to the participation of Belarusians from the Białystok region in the struggle for an independent Belarus. The fourth edition of the book is enhanced by a “Preface” from Warsaw University professor Jury Hryboŭski.
